Erlanger Ministry
On
the third Tuesday of each month, volunteers from our church go to
the waiting room of Erlanger's Intensive Care Unit and serve lunch
to the families of the patients. This idea didn't
begin at Middle Valley Baptist Church; however, it was
after one of our own church members became critically injured and
spent time in the ICU of Erlanger that we began participating with
many other community churches in this project. If you have ever
had a loved one in an Intensive Care Unit, you'll understand just
how heart-wrenching the situation can be. You are virtually
anchored to the waiting room when you aren't allowed to be in the
patient's room itself; leaving the hospital for lunch is not only
difficult, but usually not even considered an option. Funds
can easily be low, especially in light of mounting medical bills. The
Erlanger Ministry provides food for those in the waiting room -
those that have loved ones in a critical, life-threatening
position under the care of the most intense unit of the
hospital. It is a wonderful service to the community, and a
strong witness of the ways of Christianity. If you do not
participate in the Erlanger Ministry and would like begin
participating, either by going on the group trips to the hospital
to serve food, heading up a group, or bringing food to the
Fellowship Hall to be transported with the group, please contact
one of the committee members. |
